How we see this market

The AI infrastructure buildout is repricing the US power sector.

The binding constraint is delivering firm capacity at the location and time the customer needs; aggregate supply is rarely the problem.

That constraint is priced unevenly across US markets. Interconnection rules, fuel access, transmission availability, equipment constraints, market structure, and regulatory requirements can materially change the economics and timing of a transaction.

Kris has held senior roles at Shell Group and Pacific Gas and Electric across power generation, utility operations, infrastructure transactions, commercialization, and strategic investment.

His background combines engineering, power markets, infrastructure development, transaction strategy, and leadership. MIT MBA. Licensed Professional Engineer, Texas.

The name

Tafel Power is named for Julius Tafel, the electrochemist. His equation, η = a + b log i, relates overpotential to current and describes the additional force it takes to drive a reaction. Firm power is the same problem at grid scale. Capacity can look available on paper, and the real work is determining what it takes to deliver it at the required location, reliability, cost, and date.
